Marston's Old Empire pivo je dobiveno kombinacijom Optic slada koji je suptilan i lagan te omogućuje da na nepcu i drugi okusi dođu do izražaja. Od hmelja se koriste vrste Golding i Fuggles a naknadno se dodaje Američki Cascade hmelj za dodatnu snagu. Već više od 175 godina, Marston's radi pivo po istoj recepturi.

Old Empire is brewed using Optic malt, a subtle and paler grain that will allow other flavours to come through on the palate. Goldings and Fuggles hops are added to this brew, which is then late hopped with the American Cascade variety for extra hop strength.
